Google fascinated pixel 8 series users with advance 7 year update.
Google gives big relief to their pixel 8 users by gifting them with 7 years of software support. Now the pixel 8 and 8 pro users doesn't need to worry about updating their mobile. They won't left behind with the latest technology. Like other smartphone brands (OnePlus,Samsung,Apple) Google will also will be on the front with its software support. Don't see it like you cannot update your phone for next 7 years.
What's so special about it?
See it as Google have already planned for next 7 years and provided you with the solution of updating regularly. Google take a step forward to providing their customers with latest security update and new Features to tighten it's grip in the mobile market. Apple mobiles offer a software life of 5 years but pixels have overtaken them however there are different conditions with Samsung.
With this new features there comes a hope of Android dominating iOS. Previous Google phones generally support a shorter lifespan (ofcourse less than 7) so Google users keep looking for new phones as there is no scarcity of rich people's and Google can do nothing about it. So Google tried a different way. Google ensured thier customers for longer software support.
My opinion about new pixel 8 software support
In my humble opinion this feature is what Google users wanted. I mean who doesn't want his mobile with latest features. Those who doesn't like to buy new mobiles frequently will love this feature. It is a long-term profit strategy. Provide something to users get sales from them. A win win situation for both.
Google extended its vision to provide long term benefits to its customers which will result in getting more customers. But we are not here to talk buisness strategy. Are we? Then let's talk about what we are here fore.
It will increase the longevity of the handset and build trust between customer and seller. Regular security update will make it more secure that is what I personally seek for. Latest features in your phone will make you delighted and proud to have a pixel. Now less Google phone will be discarded and we know nobody will switch to other phone unless there is new breakthrough by other brands. You know what I am saying.
Is it good or bad
There is nothing bad about it unless your hardware starts to age. New updates and software will keep coming and coming but the hardware will remain the same. You can do some minor hardware update or change your whole phone. It depends solely on time.
By time passes new softwares will launch and it will depend on those software requirement that will decide the pixel is still a beast or an old geyser with new clothes. But there is nothing for us to look that negatively. We should have a postive view and good hopes with the future.
whether this update is good or bad depends on the perspective. For users who value long-term software support and want to keep their devices for an extended period, it's a positive development. However, users with older hardware may need to consider potential performance limitations. It's important to weigh the pros and cons based on individual preferences and needs.
Overall, Google's decision to offer 7 years of software support for the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro aligns with the trend of extending the lifespan of smartphones and addressing concerns related to electronic waste. It's a move that benefits both users and the environment.
